Outstanding AKC Yorkie Puppies
All our Yorkies are AKC registered and sold on a limited contract. We will only sell puppies to
families and not to dealers. We will only
place our Yorkie puppies to qualified forever homes and placed with
a contract for the puppy's protection.
We are a small, home-based
breeder with a goal of breeding high-quality Yorkshire Terriers Also Known As Yorkies or Yorkshire
Terriers with limited litters. Our first concern is to breed
exceptional health and soundness into our breeding program.
Taken into consideration when breeding is health history,
temperament and structure. Our Yorkshire Terriers are
home-raised by me and family members which makes for a very
well socialized and loving puppy.
Our Breeding Philosophy: Our Yorkie dogs are carefully
bred taking into consideration how the pairing might
compliment each other. We believe a breeding should
improve on the combination of the quality the two partners
have to offer.
Structure, health history,
temperament also have an impact pair breeding. Since
not all dogs are show quality, we occasionally have pet
companion puppies available to approved homes.
Our
Puppy Questionnaire
must be completely filled out
before you may purchase a puppy.

Want the best Yorkie Breeder
for Your Puppy?
|
| |
-
As you probably know many sites make claims of all the keywords that
people are told to look for when searching for a
breeder to purchase a new
Yorkie puppy from. The
words "quality, reputable, healthy, ethical,
champion bloodlines in pedigree" are some of the
words that come to mind. Believe me when I say
there are a few of those breeders who are
blowing smoke! As a
Yorkie breeder, I
have learned how to recognize the good breeders.
This search got me to thinking that it must be
incredibly hard for someone looking for a happy
healthy
Yorkie puppy to figure out which
breeder
is good or who you should contact for further
inquiries about purchasing a
Yorkshire Terrier
from.
-
The Statement, Champion(s) in
pedigree, many times means they have a champion
somewhere in the pedigree. Most of the
reputable breeders will
have an online pedigree of their dogs or will readily
provide one. When you see that pedigree look for the
following information in part or total and probably more
than one. Champion (CH), Sire of Merit (SOM), Dam of
Merit (DOM) or Distinction SOD within the first 4
generations several times, not just one CH dog!
-
Instead of asking if the dog is in
good health, ask for known genetic disclosures. You should
receive an answer saying, for example: "Sire A has been
checked clear of PRA, however the great grandfather was a
carrier.", or "We know of no known genetic health problems
in 4 generation of the pedigree." If they say they don't
know, don't believe in testing, it is a waste of money or
they do not know what you are referring to, that is a sign
of a breeder that may be lacking in knowledge.
-
If a
breeder quotes a purchase
price similar to the following; The puppy is $1,000.00 as a
pet on a limited registration, but if you want to breed the
dog it is more money for full registration. Be leery.
American Kennel Club frowns upon people charging more money
for papers that include breeding rights. It is against AKC
rules to charge extra for individual registration papers.
YES, it is true, some good reputable top quality breeders
many times will sell their show quality puppies as neutered
pets. Odds are those same breeders won't offer you two
prices for the same dog.
-
Requesting
a deposit on a puppy before it is born. What's up with that?
Do you think these people were fortune tellers in their
former life? Placing a deposit on a several week old
Yorkshire Terrier that may be available after the puppy is
12 weeks old is a normal practice. Do not be surprised if a
minimal non-refundable deposit is requested as earnest money
to hold your new puppy until you can arrange a visit to take
it home.
-
Do a search
engine query on their names and the word,
Yorkie or Yorkshire Terrier.
If the search comes up with dog show results, that is a good
sign. If you find the breeders kennel name or their own name
shows up in paid for site ads after paid for site ads,
selling puppies, then do this next. Search their name and
the word "dog". If their name comes up in the search with
several breeds, I would suggest to investigate why they are
selling several breeds of dogs. Not that someone cannot
breed an excellent quality dog of more than one breed, but
usually hobby breeders only breed one AKC breed well...
maybe two.
-
Visit a news page on their site. If they
have pictures & brags of show wins, and it compliments
someone putting an obedience or agility title on a dog they
have bred, that is better than, seeing picture after picture
of puppies stuffed in cups, or sat in ridiculous settings
that makes you go hummm "How much is that doggie in the
window". ARF ARF
-
Do not be afraid to fill out an online
inquiry. But keep in mind,
reputable breeders want
information! So take some time and thought into filling out
a Yorkie inquiry. If you fill in the minimum amount of
information, the chances are no matter how good of home you
are, your going to get overlooked.
-
If the
Yorkshire Terrier breeder
wants to set an appointment for a home visit. Welcome them
to drop by. In most cases they want to check out where their
little babies that have loved and nurtured since birth are
going to live the rest of their lives and that your home is
a safe healthy environment. Sometimes we will drive up to 4
hours one way for a home visit. In our case, after we get to
know you, then we will welcome you to come for a visit and
possibly pick up your new happy puppy.
-
Make sure that you have a sales contract
that states health conditions, a return policy, Individual
Registration number of puppy, DOB, Breeders Name, Name of
sire & dam, plus their AKC registration numbers.
-
Looking for a breeder to sell you a nice
finishable, quality show prospect could be even more
difficult to find. If this would be your very first
Yorkshire Terrier, it may feel nearly impossible. My
suggestion would be find a breeder that has bred Yorkies for
a number of years. Ask if they are willing to part with a
show puppy. Make sure they are willing to provide you
mentoring in grooming, training, showing, finding a mate,
pregnancy and whelping after the sale is complete. If you
are offered a show
puppy, ask the
breeder to share with you
the good and bad points of the dog you may be offered. Do
not be surprised if they discuss with you about breeding
restrictions or breeding rights, that is becoming more and
more popular these days. As this fancy little toy dog
continues to gain more attention in not only the show ring,
but in performance, obedience, and pets for the family
responsible breeder feel more compelled to hold onto their
show stock. The traditional breeder in America may almost
seem paranoid in their selling to another new show home. I
can't say I blame them... Your job is to make them feel
comfortable enough to feel your home will care for their
breeding with a lifetime of good care and love.

Yorkie Owners Say
"I
don't think I have enjoyed anything more than these little
dogs. They are the best and I have yet to get up at night
with them. They play so hard during the day that by 7:30
at night, they have had it. I take them out about 8:30,
not their idea. They go to bed and then I put them in the
kennel next to my bed around 10 an d don't hear a thing out
of them til about 6:30. They are not barkers. They are
very quite. We are at our lake house and they love it
because they are not confined as much and they can play
outside more. We are coming to Vegas with them May 10 for
spa and neuter and will give you a call. Want you to see
them. Bella weighs 7lbs. 9 oz and Barkley under 5. Bella
is just taller and long and I have not had them groomed
yet, lots of hair. Will keep in touch. "
~J, TN
"Bowie
is great. She was not afraid of anything. If you put her
up on a rock, she doesn't cower in fear, she tries to climb
on my head. If she meets a big dogs she doesn't get fearful
or aggressive....same thing with people. She is a happy dog
and she is taking to the leash very well. Now that she is
older (beyond 16 weeks) I can start exposing her to more
places and people and other dogs."

"Susan,
We just wanted to say hello and send a picture from
today, Pickle's 1st Birthday. Thank you for such a
great dog, she has been a wonderful addition and we
have shared many great memories with her. All the
best."
~Chris & Iris
"I
contacted Susan immediately after reading
the posts below. Funny enough, she was the
only breeder I needed to contact! Upon
reading her previous reviews, I could tell
that Susan had a special understanding of
these wonderful animals--this was quite
comforting to us since this was our first
Yorkie. After
Susan welcomed us into her house to meet
our baby Yorkie,
PICKLE, and seeing how she cared for the
others, I knew that everything Jane and
Kimberly wrote was 100% correct. Susan was
great to work with and made sure to
follow-up on Pickle throughout her first
month with us. She is an excellent resource
with a big heart and loves to share
wonderful information on
Yorkies. I absolutely
recommend her to anyone looking for one of
these special animals!"

"My
daughter is a Vet and was very careful in
helping me choose a breeder. I, traveled
all the way from Memphis, TN to meet with
the breeder, Susan. She has excellent
qualifications and her only interest is
giving a healthy
Yorkie
to a caring family. She is also very
careful in who she chooses to purchase her
dogs. Susan is highly qualified and I can't
say enough about her ability. I purchased
two Yorkies from
her and what a good choice. Theu love each
other, and we LOVE OUR YORKIES." |
